SMEA Startup Era Pavilion Lights up Next Generation in InnoVEX from May 29 to 31

         InnoVEX, which is an iconic international startup show in Asia, will take place at the Exhibition Hall 1, Taipei World Trade Center from May 29-31, 2019. Throughout the InnoVEX 2019, the most spacious pavilion is SMEA’s Startup Era Pavilion that aggregates creative startups and that showcases Taiwan’s capabilities in creative and incubation industries, such as Startup Terrace, Innovative Incubator Zone, and InnoNEXT-Youth CEO. The show will increase international visibility and investment opportunities for Taiwanese startups and align them with the international startup ecosystem.

 

Smart IoT applications by Startup Terrace entrepreneurs

Startup Terrace, an international startup hub promoted by the Ministry of Economic Affairs’ SMEA, has selected high quality international startup teams and accelerators to join the settlement through awards and pitch competitions. In this exhibition, 6 international accelerators—PwC Taiwan, Innovation to Industry i2i, Formosa TV, Rainmaking Innovation (RMI), Wanda Hong Co., LTD. and Mighty Net, and 38 startups from 6 countries will display their exciting innovative applications in IoT, smart cities, smart medicine and cloud data. Startup Terrace will also introduce its startup measures and residency program at the show.

 

Startup Terrace Award –89 teams vying for a share of US$300,000 total cash prize

Continuing from the InnoVEX 2018, the SMEA, MOEA has a special Startup Terrace Award in the InnoVEX Pitch competition this year. In addition to the prize of up to US$60,000, top 5 startup teams can also enjoy free office space in Startup Terrace for one year to the greatest extent and multiple benefits. A total of 89 startup teams from 16 countries have registered this year. Results of the preliminary competition will be announced on May 17th (tentatively) on the official InnoVEX website, and the winning teams will pitch onstage on the first day of InnoVEX (May 29th). Prizes will be awarded by the SMEA, MOEA on May 31.

 

Innovative Incubator Zone Highlights Cloud and Big Data Innovative Applications

The Innovative Incubator Zone has attracted three major categories of participants, including technology accelerators, local industry creation organizations and international innovation and incubation accelerators, totaling 32 innovation and incubation organizations and 83 startups. In the exhibition, the public will see the SMEA’s outstanding achievements in nurturing startups and fostering industries. Exhibitors in this zone focus on innovative applications of cloud and big data, health and biotechnology, and IoT. In its role as a domestic promoter of startup incubation, the SMEA not only showcases the achievements of domestic creative incubation organizations but also demonstrates how they have responded to international innovation trends and industrial structure changes. These ventures are constantly adapting to become professional entities capable of matching investment, insight into industrial trend and observing market trends, thus gathering resources to enhance Taiwan’s economic power! The Startup Era Pavilion of SMEA, MOEA is a display of abundant new energy. It has recruited 153 innovative partners such as Startup Terrace and its startups, creative incubation organizations and teams, and InnoNEXT. SMEA welcomes international startups to visit its Startup Era Pavilion in the InnoVEX2019 at Taipei World Trade Center on May 29-31, and light up the innovative generation with exchanges.
