On October 25, the "AI+ Taipei Startup Demo Day" successfully concluded at t.Hub, an innovation incubation center in Taipei's Neihu Technology Park. Hosted by the "Taipei Entrepreneurs Hub," Demo Day is an annual event that attracts top startups worldwide to compete and showcase their innovations in Taipei. This year, the theme was "AI," drawing more than 30 international startups from 13 countries. Six startups from Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and the United States were selected to attend, each supported by the Taipei City Government to showcase their cutting-edge technologies. The event also brought together top AI industry leaders and venture capitalists to discuss the boundless potential of AI, highlighting the collaborative spirit behind "AI+."
Éric Yu, Deputy Secretary General of Taipei's International Affairs, welcomed the international teams: "We’re thrilled to have innovative teams from Japan, South Korea, Singapore, the United States, and Taiwan here today. I reviewed your presentations, and each team’s pitch is impressive. These startups are already winners, tackling fields like education, healthcare, and AI development platforms. AI's role in public service is crucial, and we hope to see partnerships between the private and public sectors to address AI-related challenges, such as privacy and security." Yu expressed excitement for the startup presentations and underscored the city's commitment to fostering AI solutions for public benefit.
Colin Hsu, Director of Intelligent Robotics and Applications at Asus, also voiced enthusiasm for the event: "It’s exciting to see how these innovative technologies will transform Taipei. At Asus, we look forward to using AI to enhance the customer experience in meaningful ways."
The event featured six international AI startups across education, healthcare, and entertainment. Minglecon from South Korea shared plans to partner with Taiwanese IT firms to expand the reach of their AI-based educational tool, Minglebot, tapping into Taiwan's estimated $110 million digital education market. Two other education-focused startups, Sensay Learning from the United States and HelloWorld, a U.S.-based startup with a branch in Taiwan, have begun engaging with the Taiwanese market. Both aim to build connections with local education networks and expand their AI-driven language learning platforms in Taiwan.
In the healthcare sector, U.S.-based Auspex Diagnostics and MedySapiens from South Korea, currently partnered with "Taipei Medical Accelerator" and "BE Health Accelerator," demonstrated their innovative AI-driven healthcare technologies. Additionally, Wubble.ai, an AI music platform from Singapore backed by Google, represented the entertainment technology sector. They expressed interest in forming partnerships and securing investments to grow their presence in Taipei's vibrant startup ecosystem.
Besides the international startups, several prominent players from Taiwan’s startup and venture capital community joined the event. Three Taipei-based startups from NVIDIA's Inception Program—namely AIoT startup Huanhong Zhilian, computing tech firm QueView, and medical tech innovator Kanton Medical Technology—presented applications of AI in fields like 5G and medicine. Key local stakeholders, such as GrandTech subsidiary Xinqi Cloud Technology’s CIO Guo-Feng Huang and Hive Ventures’ co-founder Charles Lee, along with Sanghoon Jin from Korea's Tap Angel Partners, attended to discuss future AI trends and potential investments.
"AI+ Taipei Startup Demo Day" isn’t just a stage for international AI startups; it’s part of the "Taipei Entrepreneurs Hub’s" mission to foster meaningful partnerships and help startups establish a base in Taipei. Throughout the year, international startups were invited to events in Manila, Seoul, and Tokyo, where they learned about Taipei's Demo Day and applied for the opportunity to participate. The selected startups not only presented their projects but also connected with potential investors and industry partners. Furthermore, the Taipei City Government is actively promoting a "Startup Resource Guide," a practical toolkit to help global startups navigate business and lifestyle in Taipei, thereby enhancing Taipei's reputation as a hub for global innovation and entrepreneurship.
