IoT Service Hub is an IoT development base operated under the support of the Industrial Development Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, providing manufacturing-oriented guidance programs and many other services offered to help companies in developing prototypes, connections from varieties of industry, prepares the products for market launching and many other assistances in terms of soft-and hardware, cloud platform, product design, marketing, and data application.

The IoT Service Hub’s International seminar is one of IDB’s many efforts to let the world know more about the platform and help entrepreneurs, IoT services and IoT solutions users to leverage this platform capabilities in realizing their dream and to turn their ideas into products.
Attended by Mr. Cheng-Chin Lu, the Deputy Director of Information Technology Industries Division, Industrial Development Bureau (IDB), Ministry of Economic Affairs,
he stated that to keep up with the ICT trends, IDB has already built IoT Service Hub as a platform to foster, build, and enabling environment in supporting entrepreneurs and teams to leverage IoT solution. Furthermore, over these years, they have established more than 100 project teams and supported over 400 successful cases. Their aim in the future is to go beyond Taiwan, to the global stage.
This event was also attended by the Director of Institute for Information Industry (III) and Director of IoT Service Hub, Mr. Calvin Tsai.
He shared that IoT Service Hub was built upon the realization that many small quantities and diverse IoT projects are ignored as the focus are mostly on big volume audiences. Therefore, with the aim to provide services and development resources to all projects and teams as well as giving assistance from the first stage, development cycles to launching, the Hub currently provides more than 8 different kinds of A-IoT development kit: EV Board, SOM, developer friendly material and also gathers experts in Taiwan.
With no payment needed, the IoT Service Hub accepts application all year around providing series of consultations to matchmaking activities that will help before the official launch.
To bring both on-site and online audiences a better understanding of the various aspects that the IoT can be used in, several manufacturers were invited to this event to introduced their business and how the business itself integrates with IoT. There are SINBON Electronics Co., Ltd, OHGA SmartThings Co., Ltd, KO'LAB Industrial Design & Research Co., Ltd, and VALD Co., Ltd.
In addition to the sharing of the four manufacturer companies, 2 teams were also invited to share about their successful cases, Ms. Hsi-Lu Chao, as the Associate Professor of National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University sharing about National Yang-Ming University-Vipasyana: A Full-Functional Wireless ECG for Healthcare A-IoT and Business Director of Ocare-Automated Disinfection Solution for Sharing Motor , Mr. David Tai, was also invited to share their stories.Amidst different background and concerns, both have the similarity in proceeding and integrating their products in the IoT industry as well as were supported by the IoT Service Hub.
Ms. Hsi-Lu Chao, is very grateful for the support of many instances including Institute for Information Industry (III), that created the IoT Service Hub program in connecting stakeholders and medical centers to make the Vipasyana available.
And Mr. David Tai stated that IoT Service Hub has played a big role in the whole process by connecting Ocare with partners such as WeMo & GoShare, also in the introduction of mass production resources, as well as, media exposure.
Taiwan, recognized as a country with an incredible ICT ecosystem across the world, with the accessibility to incredible platform and services of the IoT Service Hub to provide development resources, companies who are or interested to expand their business to ASEAN market should consider several factors. With this, CEO of STARTBOARD, Mr. Uniform, was invited to share about ASEAN Market development – International Resource Integration.
Mr. Uniform explained that there are many process and cost needed to be estimated upon developing business in Taiwan, such as: entrepreneurs visa application, working spaces, networking. In addition, he stressed out that it is important for entrepreneurs to have local network and connection for the best decision-making process.
