U.S. Taiwan High-Tech Forum 2019: Bridging Taiwan with Silicon Valley

On November 9th, the annual U.S. Taiwan High-Tech Forum (UTHF) took place in Silicon Valley, California at the Hilton hotel in Santa Clara. In its consecutive event for 22 years now, this year’s theme is called Exploit the Innovation Opportunities Enabled by Intelligent Connectivity: The combination of 5G, AI and Massive IoT.

The event includes a strong line-up of industry expert speakers who spoke within the theme and attendance was full-house throughout the day. The speakers cover topics ranging from global trends in 5G, applications of Artificial Intelligence in 5G core network systems, 5G manufacturing test challenges in millimeter wave (mmWave) and 5G network security.

Besides speaker talks and panel discussion, there was also live demo tables on-site with 5G instrument solutions for cellular V2X from Rohde & Schwartz and 5G millimeter wave (mmWave) test solution from TMYTEK, a Taiwan start-up company who has invented an innovative fast-scan and low-effective approach for 5G mmWave production test along with antenna validation and other test functions in R&D lab. 5G mmWave, operating in high frequency, impose a variety of challenges including testability due to huge path loss from beamforming and difficulty in module-based 5G mmWave over-the-air (OTA) testing. TMYTEK’s mmWave experts have come up with a solution that solves this known problem in the wireless industry.

As a high-profile event bridging the cross-border exchange between Silicon Valley and Taiwan high-tech communities, UTHF has become the flagship event for individuals working in large companies, start-ups as well as entrepreneurs and investors alike. Moreover, it interconnects Silicon Valley, world’s leading innovation hub, with Taiwan’s vibrant new technological advancements to the global stage. It is certainly a conference that should not be missed for anyone looking to deepen understanding of industry trends or to build stronger ties between U.S. and Taiwan technology communities.

U.S. Taiwan High-Tech Forum is organized by North America Taiwanese Engineering & Science Association (a non-profit professional group) in collaboration with the Science and Technology Division(S&TD) and Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in San Francisco (TECO).
