Since 1997, incubation policies have been promoted to reduce the costs and risks associated with startup and early-stage projects, with the aim of increasing the chances of business success. Incubation centers have been built to create a diverse incubation ecosystem and strengthen Taiwan"s innovation and entrepreneurship.
The SMESA Incubator At Tainan Science Park(SIAT) is a self-established incubation center developed by the Small and Medium Enterprise Administration (SMESA) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs. It is the only incubation center in Taiwan located within a science park, so it has the advantage of being closely connected to industrial chains and close to the hi-tech market.
Since its inception in 2003, the center has been committed to helping innovative enterprises develop and has been at the forefront in establishing a hub for incubating high-tech industries. It also assists resident companies to transition into scientific enterprises.
Since 2017, the Small and Medium Enterprise Administration (SMEA) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs entrusted the operation and management of the SME incubator to STUST. The center provides integrated services for startup incubation, industry-academia collaboration, talent matching, and entrepreneurial development.
