Does the entity or team that gets the investment have to be related to the purpose for us getting the Entrepreneur Visa?

Yes, it has to be the company/team related to the purpose of your entrepreneur visa.

 

Is it enough that one of the team members have previously ever been trusted by a professional investor and received an investment, perhaps for another company?

NO, it has to be the current team that received the investment.

 

What are the qualified VCs?

If Taiwan, all professional investors have the word “investor” is in the company name. If not in the name, they have the appropriate business license. For foreign investors, the company name should “Venture Capital”, “Investments” or something similar. If your investor uses a different name, submit information with your application showing the background and investment history of your investor with your application.

 

2. Your team has received domestic or foreign venture capital or funding via a qualified crowdfunding platform of at least NTD 2 millions

Does the entity or team that gets the investment have to be related to the purpose for us getting the Entrepreneur Visa?

Yes, it has to be the company/team related to the purpose of your entrepreneur visa.

 

Is it enough that one of the team members have previously ever received crowdfunding?

No, it has to be THIS team.

 

What are the recognized platforms?

No list, just apply and introduce the platform. In the past, large platforms like IndieGogo and Kickstarter has been approved.

 

3. If your new entity gets selected into a government approved incubators, accelerators or national entrepreneurial park.

Does the entity or team that gets accepted to the incubator have to be related to the purpose for us getting the Entrepreneur Visa?

Yes, it has to be the company/team related to the purpose of your entrepreneur visa.

4. If you or one of your partners are holding patents from outside of Taiwan

Do we need to transfer the ownership of this patent to the new entity or is it enough that one of the team members can prove they have one?

The patent has to be owned by the team applying.

 

If I am just the inventor, but someone else owns the patent, am I qualified?

No, you and your team have to own the patent.

 

If I were granted the patent a long time ago, does it count?

Yes, there’s no specific regulations about time, as long as it’s related to the project you and your team is working on now and for which you are are applying for your Entrepreneur Visa.

 

If we apply as a team but only of us owns the patent related to our Entrepreneur Visa, does it count?

No, it’s has to be owned by the team.

5. If you or one of your partners have won an international startup or design competitions such as IDG Demo Show, Red Dot, iF design.

Does the competition have to be related to the entity/team/project for which we are applying for the Entrepreneur Visa?

No, as long as the winner was the key person or the team.

 

If I am only one person applying, if ever got such an award for anything, would this qualify me?

If I am applying as a team, does my team have to have receive an award for a product we developed and is now applying for the Entrepreneur Visa for?
